oops! i got hit with the worst fuckign art block known to mankind after that little mishap with my old bank back in january. if u follow me on other socmeds ur probably familiar with it in some regard. commissions r backlogged and i'm getting to them reeeaaaaal soon, and they will hopefully be out by june. i've genuinely just lost track of time, but the good news is, i'm doing a lot better mentally since moving out of my mom's house, if it's any consolation. anyways, i'm trying to get this one adoptable out just so i can get back into the game. i miss posting here tbh. it seems much quieter and i like that, so expect a slight return... hopefully? (also, future of twitter usage in the eu is not lookin so hot, what with muskrat's general disregard for our laws, so i'm wary of that rn.)

i'm not leaving DeviantArt. i don't think i really could. i don't even have the heart nor will to delete my entire gallery, since it also doubles as a personal archive. i rly don't have much against dA personally, cuz i understand the business model of social media and i understand a lot of it is "throwing shit at a wall and hoping it sticks." though, if ur thinking about deleting ur gallery/deleting ur account, a word of advice.

your art has already been used in AI datasets.

not by DeviantArt! no, no not them. but by third party datasets. DeviantArt will not use their entire site as a hub for these datasets, because it's also problematic to them, in regards to their terms of service-- they did not approve these third party datasets to data scrape their site. ur art on DEVIANTART is NOT being used for the DreamUp program they have set up-- HOWEVER if ur art has been posted on OTHER SITES it is highly likely ur art has already been used in these datasets.

we unfortunately cannot avoid it; thus this is why the staff of dA r asking us to start pressuring other sites like Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. to also add in the "noai" feature, to also protect us there.

from my understanding, DreamUp is most likely a compromise as well, with AI artists who r using this site alongside us. think of it as a way to keep everything under one roof, if u will.

my opinions on AI r a bit nuanced, in the regards that yes it can be used to make art, of that I have no qualms with; but what i do have qualms with using other people's styles to make AI art-- especially that of the deceased. that in of itself is a moral and ethical problem. so i'm not totally in support but neither unsupportive. having had how AI works explained to me in a much more concise way, my opinion on it has only slightly changed having fully understood how it functions and works. tldr; computers r really stupid, and we're just helping make them understand the difference between a rock and a car. that's what all those "security CAPTCHAs" r actually for, not to prove ur human, just to help train AI.

long time no see, i hardly ever use this site bc holy shit it's virtually impossible to navigate, not to mention the whole NFT issue. but but but! i'm in a very precarious financial spot (mom has been jobless since november 2021, current financial stability isn't very stable, i don't rly make enough for the whole household-- it's a whole debacle and i don't have the energy nor comfort to get into it) so i've opened my commissions!
